- Spanish DELE A2 language exam (waived for Spanish-speaking applicants)
- Spanish CCSE constitutional & cultural knowledge exam
- No criminal record (both in Spain and home country)
- Renounce prior citizenship — BUT Spain has bilateral dual-nationality treaties with most Iberoamerican countries, so this is a formality (you keep your original)
- Apply through the Ministry of Justice once 2-year residence is complete
- On approval: Spanish + EU citizenship
