Mexico — Residente Temporal Visa (1-4 years)
Residente Temporal: 1-year initial, renewable up to 4 years total, then must convert to Residente Permanente. Financial requirement: ~US$4,300/month income for 6 months OR US$72,000 savings for 12 months (varies by consulate). Work authorisation: opt-in for Trabajador subtype.

Mexico — Residente Permanente (Permanent Residency)
Residente Permanente is granted directly (not converted from Temporal) for retirees, family of Mexicans, and high-net-worth applicants. Indefinite stay, full work authorisation. Naturalisation after 5 years of permanent residency (2 years for Latin American + Spanish nationals).

EU / UK / US / CA / AU / NZ / JP / KR + most of Latin America are visa-exempt. The FMM is what an officer hands you on the plane / at the airport. Free, valid up to 180 days, single-entry. For longer stays or work → Residente Temporal / Permanente.
